Express Trust Myth #3 – It’s okay to apply for credit cards in the trust’s name.
Have you been told that you can apply for credit cards with a trust?
If so, this is FALSE. Applying for credit cards in the trusts name (especially if it’s a private express trust like the Bulletproof Trust) is considered receiving a benefit or privilege which can transfer jurisdiction of the trust from private into the public (statutory) which can jeopardize the protection and security of the trust assets.
We’ve even heard other so called “trust organizations” tell people to do this but especially with Express Trusts it’s a BIG NO-NO!
Only apply for credit cards in the name of your person or business.
*If using your trust for business purposes, we recommend making the name of your trust slightly different from the name of your business for this reason.
*If the trust has already obtained them, rescind the contracts immediately.
