Well, it’s no surprise that sports cars top the list.
It figures since drivers that speed the most prefer performance-oriented auto manufacturers. The top five brands with the most speeding tickets include: Audi, Infiniti, and Saab — all known for producing high-end, high-horsepower vehicles — as well as Scion and Volkswagen, which both offer models that pack a similar punch at a lower price point.
Together, 10.59% of drivers of these five brands report a speeding violation on record, a share that’s 13% higher than the national average.
Which car brands get the least amount of speeding tickets?
Drivers of Fiat cars are the most law-abiding motorists when it comes to vehicle speed. Just 7.09% of Fiat drivers have a speeding ticket on record, a share that’s 24% lower than the national average. Jaguar, Buick & Chevrolet drivers followed close behind.
What other factors contribute to getting a speeding ticket?
What about the drivers age?
Most people believe it is the teenagers who get the most speeding tickets.
However, the truth is 16 to 26 years old’s only make up a third of all speeding tickets. Drivers between 30 and 49 who make over $75,000 a year get more tickets than their teen counterparts.
What’s more, when they get convicted or pay a fine, their premium increases, on average, more than a teen’s would. However, men are 50% more likely to get a speeding ticket, regardless of age, versus women.
Is the ‘hometown advantage’ real?
Yes! People speeding with out-of-town or out-of-state license plates are more likely to get a ticket than local residents.
Combine this with a city or town that just passed new traffic revenue laws and you can increase your chance of getting a speeding ticket versus a warning by 37%! Compared to other drivers stopped by the same police for the same speed.
